goodbye Steffi weekend
Steffi is leaving London after her 6 month work experience ends and she has to go back to finish her degree back in Berlin. Since this was her last weekend, Ilja and I wanted to spend some time with her. On Saturday we met up with Steffi on Brick Lane for a coffee and some other friends joined us as well. Finn was there, and his friend Robert (who I have already seen a few times by now), and a new friend of Steffi's, Viktoria. We chilled in a cafe for a while and then went to Camden Town to go to the World's End. We got some seats upstairs and had a few beers. The bummer came when we discovered that Viktoria's bag was missing after a while. Everybody looked around for it for but it was clear in the end that is was stolen. The bad didn't contain too many valuable things, no keys etc. but it was still pretty shocking. Since it was late anyway we all went home and even managed to catch the last rain out of Camden Town. But our luck didn't last long as we missed our connection at Tottenham Court Road and had to take the night bus home again... It took about an hour to get home again, but by now I'm used to that.
Today, on Sunday, I wanted to go and see the Olympic torch ceremony thing. But I had already agreed to pick up Steffi at the gallery again and have a look at the new exhibition. (Apparently I missed quite some action at the torch thing with lots of demonstrators.) So Ilja, Steffi and me walked around Brick Lane and the markets there for a while. It was also quite cold for the second day in a row and it had snowed overnight! We stopped for some coffee once in a while to warm up and otherwise walked around looking at the stalls. Later in the afternoon we went to Camden again and looked at the market there. Steffi had the idea to meet up with Viktoria again so we went to her university dorm and had a beer in her kitchen there. We all went home not too late and I had to say goodbye to Steffi. But I will see her again soon when I go to Berlin.
