Tufts show
Tonight SSLYBY played at Tufts University in Medford (what I would still consider as Cambridge). The venue was pretty small and cozy. They did serve alcohol though... :/ First to play was The Appreciation Post, a local band that actually sounded pretty good. Next was SSLYBY, who did a good job, as always (although I found the sound of the second part of the set much better). There was no real stage, so everyone could get real close and it felt like they were playing in someone's living room. Chin Up Chin up played last, but we didn't stay for the whole set. The band asked me if I would like to join them going to Harper's Ferry to see Andrew W.K.. We took the tour van to the venue and had a drink before going in. But then the bouncer wouldn't let me in because I didn't have my passport with me! My German ID wasn't enough, he wanted to see my passport which I wasn't carrying around, obviously! :/ (Apparently this is some stupid Massachusetts state law.) So I couldn't get in and ended up going home. Bummer! (Jonathan was so kind as to drive me home.)
The band is going to New York next where they are playing at the Mercury Lounge tomorrow, and at the Black Cat in Washington D.C. on Thursday.
But, the best thing is, SSLYBY will play at the Immergut-Festival in Neustrelitz, Germany, June 1st & 2nd! This is my home turf and I went to the festival last year! I'm really excited about them going there and have to ask my friends at the LOHRO radio station to at least interview them at the festival.
Here's another video from tonight's show for now:
