Tiananmen & Forbidden City

I got up early today and took the subway to Tiananmen Square. I walked around there for a bit and took some pictures. I found out that, unfortunately, the mausoleum of Mao Zedong is being renovated and is closed until September. So I can't go and see the Chairman... :/
I want to the Forbidden City afterwards and spent a few hours there. This place is huge! I was lucky with the weather and it was a beautiful day, although very hot. I walked around the different halls forever and saw quite a lot of stuff.
In the evening I went for dinner with my couchsurfing hosts and we had Western Chinese food. It was dirt cheap!!! I payed $3 for a feast, including drinks!!! Afterwards we went to a small pub called Lush where they had open mic night and my one of my hosts played there every week. There were a lot of great people on stage and you could forget easily that you are in China! :)
