broken 360 hard drive

I discovered today that my Xbox360 stopped working when it gave me an error code instead of starting up. I found out that it's the hard drive and the system did work when I removed it. Since I don't have any warranty anymore I had to go and buy a new hard drive. It cost me 70 quid for a meager 20gb - that's a shameless ripoff (I payed the same for my 500gb external). I could recover my gamer profile and achievements, but all my save files are gone! :(
