Seattle
So, yesterday at 1.30pm I made my way first to Cincinnati and then to Seattle. I flew Delta for the first time and got a really good deal of the tickets. But I was a little surprised that they didn't serve any meals during any of the flights. The in-flight entertainment was also quite crappy. We landed in Seattle a but earlier than scheduled, but when I got my luggage I had to discover that it was damaged during the flight. My sleeping back, which I had fastened to my backpack, was ripped off and several straps came off completely. And some of the seams of my other bag ripped open as well and things started to spill out.
I went to the Delta counter and to my surprise they gave me a completely new bag in exchange for my broken one. They couldn't do anything about my backpack though. Anyway, the new bag is actually much nicer and a big bigger than the old one, and it has wheels too! That makes it much easier now to carry all my stuff around.
Next thing I took the bus from the airport into the city. But in the middle of the highway the bus broke down! The lights went off and we driver had to park the bus at the side of the road. We had to wait for a replacement bus then, which came about 20 minutes later. After arriving in the city, I made my way to the place where I'm couchsurfing now. I'm staying with a nice gut named Del, who has a great apartment with a superb view of downtown and the Space Needle. We went out for a bite last night and then talked a lot over a few beers later. Del works for Microsoft and also writes about music. He might also join me for one of the concerts I'm going to.
Today I'll meet a couchsurfing girl named Liz to see the city for a bit. She volunteered to show me around a little. Seattle looks really interesting and I'm sure I'll love it. It's a bit rainy today though.
