Immergut
I got back from the Immergut festival today where I spent the weekend. We went early on Thursday to catch Studio Braun and get the best place for our tents. The first evening was really relaxing and Studio Braun were really cool. We were extremely lucky with the weather as well and it has been nothing but hot the whole time. We ended up going swimming in one of the many lakes every day. Overnight it still got quite cold but in the morning the tent became a sauna and it was impossible to stay there very long.
On Friday the camping group became crowded and some more people I knew arrived. I picked up Finn at the train station at noon and Vroni arrived in the afternoon. I got a photographer's pass again courtesy of my friends at the Lohro radio station and took some pictures of the bands.
The music started at 5 and since there were only 2 stages and interchanging slots you could see all the bands if you wanted. I saw The Audience, Blood Red Shoes, Johnossi, The Weakerthans, iLIKETRAINS and a bit of Louie Austen. I skipped The Notwist and listened to them from a distance as they didn't sound very engaging.
On Saturday the first thing we did was to go to the lake again to escape the heat. The music started a bit earlier in the afternoon and we started with Microstern, a band from my hometown Rostock. They still seemed a bit inexperienced but I like their sound. Afterwards I saw a bit of John Goldtrain, Cartridge, Get Well Soon (who were really good!), some Girls in Hawaii, and Fotos (another great show!). We basically skipped Slut and The Lemonheads as they sounded entirely too boring. It really seems most of the headliners were old-timer bands that played sets of meandering port-rock that you could neither listen to nor dance to.
On Sunday we packed up our tents and went to the lake again before driving back to Rostock. Finn came with us to see Rostock for a day and I showed him around town for the rest of the day.

Let it be known that I'm not always part of the "we". ;) I DID listen to and enjoy The Notwist and Slut and if I hadn't been too tired, I'd have stayed up for the entire Lemonheads gig, too. Though it got a bit dull over time...;)
However you're right, the headliners were more old heroes than current superstars.
