Iron Man

Today was one of those days where it feels great to work for my company. After working on the Iron Man video games for some time (in which I haven't been too involved) the whole company was invited to a screening of the Iron Man movie today (during work hours!). I've already experienced this for The Golden Compass, and I'm hoping for a Hulk screening next month as well. Anyway, we were all driven my bus to Leicester Square where we had a whole room for us. We got drinks and popcorn as well and sat back to enjoy the movie.
I have to see I quite liked it! Iron Man is not perfect as a movie, but it did a lot of things right and was quite enjoyable. (My farourite superhero movie is still Batman Begins, followed by Spiderman 1.)
As with every first superhero film, the origin story had to be told first and there might have been too little time left to build up a proper villain and have a good boss battle in the end. The characters, cast, performances, story and effects were all excellent, with Robert Downey Jr. shining as Tony Stark. A few thing I really enjoyed were the mature romantic subplot and the ironic portrayal of Tony Stark with some great one-liners and superb acting. I think we can all be sure there's going to be a second film.
