Miyajima island

This morning I took the ferry over to the island and visited the famous "floating" torii gate of the Itsukushima-jinja shrine. (One of Japan's 3 best views!) The gate is not really floating but built in the water. During high tide it's standing in the water and during low tide it's exposed. Unexpectedly, it was an extremely beautiful day today! Maybe because of the passing typhoon... Definitely a welcome change from the last rainy and overcast days.
I had a look around the small island and also hiked up Mt.Misen, the highest mountain of the island (530m). Instead of taking the cable car I walked all the way, which took me about 2 hours. I was still pretty exhausted afterwards, especially because it was such a hot day. But the view from the top was magnificent! (Have a look at the pictures!)
The island had tame deer, like many other places with temples/shrines. (I think they're considered sacred.) And the mountain top had monkeys as well! :)
Tomorrow morning I will take the tram back to Hiroshima and get on the bus to Fukuoka. I'm going to couchsurf there again for 3 nights before I will take the ferry to Pusan, Korea on Wednesday.
