Nampo-dong & Transformers

We got up around noon today and then lurked around the house until 3 or so. We then met up with Sengwon's girlfriend and went to the Nampo-dong area. First we went to the fish market for a look and then walked around a little.
At 6 we decided to go to the movies (again). Sengwon and his girlfriend wanted to see "Die Hard 4.0", which I had already seen (great movie!). So we split and I saw "Transformers" instead.
Let me tell it to you: this film is for kids (much more than the new "Harry Potter" movie)! The effects are great, but the story is ridiculous and the characters are cut-outs. The movie also has more product placement than any other movie I've ever seen! Ebay practically owns this movie and it's a genuine General Motors commercial. And since it's a Michael Bay movie you also get to see the entire US army, navy and air force in full swing looking cool against the setting sun. He even went so far as to copy himself in the end sequence where you can see the happy couple and their dream car under a tree in the sunset (compare "Armageddon").
The whole plot is ridiculous and seems lifted right out of a Saturday morning cartoon (oh wait, that's what it IS based on). The teenage love story is totally unbelievable, the hacker friend side story is lame and not even fleshed out. I could go on and on about this... I have no idea who is the supposed target audience for this movie. It's definitely not for people who grew up on the original TV series.
Go and see "Die Hard 4.0", "Harry Potter" or "Ratatouille"!
